Spitting hard and fast, the Mancunian urban jazz artist is steadfastly defying genre typecasting typecasting—and the roles women are supposed to play. One minute she’s serious trap player, rhymes as quick as gunfire, the next she’s musing soulfully and using her bluesy voice as an instrument and eschewing words for melodic noises and syncopated rhythms against sparse electronica.
