Harvey Weinstein who is currently a convicted sex offender used to be a film producer and together with his brother (Bob Weinstein) founded the entertainment company Miramax. As soon as they left Miramax, they founded the Weinstein Company, a mini-major film studio where they worked together from 2005-2017. Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for the crime of rape on February 23, 2023.

Movies including “Sex, Lies, and Videotape” was produced in 1989, and after four years of break, he produced “The Crying Game” and “Heavenly Creatures” in the year 1994. While operating Miramax Harvey & Bob produced many films including the most notable Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, and Good Will Hunting. He won an Academy Award for producing “Shakespeare in Love.” alongside seven Tony Awards for plays and musicals, including “The Producers,” “Billy Elliot the Musical,” and “August: Osage County.” In 2004 Weinstein was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his contributions to the British film industry.

He has been involved in two marriages which have ended in divorce. In 1987, he married Eve Chilton who happened to be his assistant at that time. They shared three children/daughters: The first is called Remy (previously Lily, born in 1995), Emma (born in 1998), and Ruth (born in 2002). The marriage resulted in divorce in 2004.

After his divorce, he waited three years and then married again in 2007. This time around, he married an English fashion designer and actress Georgina Chapman and had two children( a daughter and a son). After the sexual harassment accusations became public on October 10, 2017, Chapman announced that she was leaving him. In January 2018, they settled. Their divorce was finalized in July 2021.

According to reports, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to a 23-year prison term sentence on the basis of being guilty of first-degree criminal sexual acts and third-degree rape.

He was charged with 11 counts of rape, forcible oral copulation, and sexual battery stemming from alleged acts between 2004 and 2013, and on December 19, 2022, he was found guilty of 3 of 7 charges (four of the initial 11 were dropped). His convictions included charges of rape, forced oral copulation, and third-degree sexual misconduct.

On February 23, 2023, Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his convictions. It’s been reported that his sentence in California prisons must be served separately from his time served in New York.

In summary, Harvey Weinstein has been accused by 87 women. He will now spend 36 years in prison.
